Costa Rica ranks first in Latin America and the Caribbean and fourth globally in the Greenfield FDI Performance Index 2026 by FDI Intelligence (Financial Times), attracting 6.5 times more foreign investment projects than expected for the size of its economy, and being the only country in the region within the top 20 of the general ranking.
The leadership is confirmed in the per-capita measurement: eighth place globally with 18.1 projects per million inhabitants, again first in Latin America and the Caribbean and the best positioned among all OECD members.
